+ Pros The cabin looks modern, spacious and uncluttered at first glance, and it appears to have everything needed for a comfortable stay. The kitchen was well equipped and included a dishwasher, and there was also access to a washing machine and tumble dryer in a separate container on site. There was a useful honesty-shop where guests could pay by card for items such as drinks, toilet rolls and dog supplies. There was also an open area nearby for dog walking. The hot tub was enjoyable, and the twinkly lights outside looked lovely in the evening. - Cons Unfortunately, the standard of the accommodation did not come close to justifying the £616 we paid for two nights. Although it looks attractive in the photographs and on first entering, the cabin quickly began to feel rushed, unfinished and poorly maintained. The quality of the finishing work was one of the biggest disappointments. There were sticky and chipped bedside tables, damaged and marked furniture, stains and marks on cushions, chairs and carpets, and crumbs and debris deep inside the sofa cushions. It did not look as though the sofa had been properly vacuumed for a considerable amount of time. The window sills were marked and dirty, the privacy stickers on the windows were peeling, and there were builders’ pencil marks and paint left on the window frames and glass. The painting throughout was untidy, including around sockets, walls and woodwork. In the bathroom there were missing tiles and missing grouting underneath the sink, as well as poor or missing sealing above the sink. There were also unfinished gaps around exposed pipework. These details made the cabin feel incomplete rather than luxurious. The outside areas were also disappointing. Parts of the patio edging were unfinished and crumbling, and the picnic tables looked heavily weathered. There was also an unpleasant smell of drains or the septic tank at times. The property was advertised as dog friendly, but the garden did not appear secure for dogs of any size. There were gaps beneath sections of the fencing through which both small and larger dogs could potentially escape. We had not brought our dog, but anyone booking because they expect a secure dog-friendly garden should be aware of this.
