Built as a private house in 1914, the hotel has hosted King George V and other members of the royal family. Many of the rooms and public areas retain elements of Edwardian luxury, including high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows.
The historic ruins of Furness Abbey are just a five-minute stroll from our hotel gardens and the golden sands of Roanhead Beach only a five-minute drive away. The charming town of Ulverston, birthplace of Stan Laurel, is just 15 minutes by car, and the beauty of Lake Windermere can be reached within 30 minutes.
Guests can start their day with a full English breakfast and later enjoy an award-winning menu at the Rosette-accredited Oscar’s Restaurant, known for its exceptional cuisine, relaxed atmosphere, and attentive service.
** Abbey House Hotel is a dedicated wedding and event venue, so functions with music do take place. We recommend calling the hotel before booking to check whether any events are scheduled for your chosen dates, as there may be loud music until midnight.
