- We paid almost 200 US Dollars per night. For that kind of money one expects a certain level of hospitality and quality. This accomodation did not meet that standard, because of the following. 1. After booking I requested the host to arrange an airport taxi for us. They wanted to charge 60 US dollars, while the regular price on the airport is 20 US dollars. 2. Upon arrival they told us our appartment had been changed without consulting us. It was a three bedroom appartment, instead of a two bedroom, so that was a plus, but it wasn't on the ground floor as the appartment we had booked, so we had to climb a lot of stairs and the appartment wasn't as nicely furnished as the pictures showed the other appartment to be. Some furniture was broken. the rails of the curtains en shower curtain hung loose and were rusty, the curtains hardly covert the windows. 3. The beds were not made, we had to make the beds ourselves. The bathroom and kitchen weren't as clean as one would hope for. 4. The most annoying thing was the way they handled the payment. Only upon arrival they informed us that they didn't accept credit cards. We could only pay in cash or through Paypal for which they charged 10% extra. We didn't have a Paypal account and our bank didn't accept opening one on the other side of the world. They expected us to go into town immediately to an ATM for almost 600 US Dollars. We didn't know the country or the town, it was a 15 minute walk to the ATM, it was getting dark, we just travelled for 20 hours with an eight hour time difference, so we did absolutely not feel comfortable or safe with that. When I told them we would take care of things after a night sleep in daylight I received an e-mail at 20:00 hours that they set a deadline for the payment at 09.00 hours the next morning. I have more grievances like having to pay for drinking water, but the space for writing comments has run out. I think my view on the behaviour of the host is clear.
