I would suggest ignoring those reviewers who feel more modern upgrades are needed like flooring, carpet, refrigerators, coffee in room. The more a rural gem like this keeps the history, the better the experience in my opinion. If you want modern, perhaps go to the city. I noticed many lodging places in Spain do not have refrigerators in the rooms, likely because of the cost savings from constantly running 50 to 100 or more of them daily. Probably promotes buying drinks from the café etc. I felt this place was clean, historic, friendly to tourists, and conversational in English, with rooms also being clean, hot water with great water pressure for the shower, great wifi, and nice amenities. The hotel had an extensive breakfast buffet with very attentive and helpful staff. Bravo for being able to cater to Vegan diets for lunch and dinner (just request/ask ahead of time to help them prepare). Like most thermal spas, resorts in Spain, the elderly dominate! Specific packages are available for seniors, which I think is great. It was a nice change to be surrounded by older folks, rather than youth. As seems to be the case in Spain for these places, the hot spring/spa services are all alacarte and not included with the room rate. I wish that was better clarified online. The warm pool is however, as is the sauna adjacent to it. Lukewarm, but imagine would be very nice in the Summer hot months. Early check in was accommodated, and even though I was several hours early. Lastly, for the hot spring next to the river, a few steps away from the hotel, the water was lukewarm at best. I saw other reviewers 8 years ago mention how very hot it was, so wonder if things are cooling down for the spring? When I arrived it was litter with liquor and soda bottles, leftover food packaging etc, despite having a garbage basket just across the way at the parking lot. Always a disappointment to see this kind of disrespect in a natural setting, or anywhere for that matter!
