About this property

Award winning Cottages

Surrounded by mountains, Bridge End Farm Cottages are situated in the idyllic village of Boot, in the Lake District National Park, and are all awarded with Quality in Tourism 4 Star, 4 Star Gold and 5 Star Gradings. The cottages are stunningly located in the south-west of the national park which has now become a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its outstanding beauty. With free Wi-Fi and free onsite parking, the self-catering accommodation is set beside a beautiful 17th century packhorse bridge and the tumbling Whillan Beck stream.

Wastwater lake is a 7 km walk from Bridge End, while Windermere lake is 24 km away. Coninston Water is 36 km from the property.

Each cottage offers a cosy living area, with oak beams and exposed stonework. The cottages also include full Sky TV with all sports, movie and children's channels. Many cottages offer a private patio with garden furniture, fell views, and a barbeque. Two cottages have ground floor bedrooms and bathrooms, making them ideal for guests with mobility restrictions.

The fully equipped kitchens have high quality appliances and include a ceramic hob, oven and dishwasher. Guests can enjoy a welcome tray with tea, coffee and biscuits, and fresh milk in the fridge. The cottages have access to a shared paddock with a riverside picnic spot. There are 2 inns serving food and real ales within 200 metres of Bridge End Farm Cottages.

Guests can enjoy walking, hiking and cycling in the surrounding area.

Eskdale is known as the ‘Gateway to Paradise’. Guests at the Bridge End Farm Cottages can visit the historic market towns of Cockermouth, Keswick, and Ulverston. Further attractions include country houses, castles, and gardens, including Holker Hall and Levens Hall.

House rules

Extra beds can be provided with the relevant extra person charge paid in advance in Wastwater, Hardknott and Wrynose cottages only.

Towels, linen, toiletries and cleaning are provided.

Please note that Farmhouse, Scafell and Wastwater Cottages have 3 allocated parking spaces each. One parking space is allocated to the one bedroom cottages, Whillan Beck, Wrynose, Stanley Ghyll and Hardknott Cottage. If you require additional parking, please contact the property prior to arrival.

Please note that the additional fold-out bed that can be provided measures 190 cm in length and 75 cm in width.

All guests must familiarise themselves with our parking plan and park in the centre of the bays allocated to their cottage. The parking plan will be sent prior to arrival along with directions, key safe code, wi-fi code, etc. If you wish to bring more cars than there are parking bays please contact us as we can usually recommend some easy overflow options that do not involve parking in someone else's parking bay.

We allow trained, well behaved dogs, no puppies though and the number of dogs varies by cottage, please see the individual cottage descriptions for the number allowed in that cottage. Dogs must be booked in and the relevant dog fee paid and our easy to follow dog rules must be adhered to at all times. This is for the benefit of all guests and especially young children who might be staying in another cottage and playing in our gardens and large communal paddock. Thank you.

+ A perfect old cottage that sits in a lovely valley with beautiful views. The cottage has a big communal back garden with a lovely brook that runs behind. We enjoyed our stay and felt peaceful and relaxed, the cottage has a lot of old charm and character, yet has everything you need. The homeowner was welcoming and made us feel welcomed, so we hope to come again.
− the interned reception was good only in the living room
