- It was not so clean, and the host didn't want to reply in English even when I wrote that I don't speak French. The instructions how to get inside were also not so clear, also he never mentioned how many people will be inside of the flat at the same time. + Well...so...where do I start from...since the negatives are too long I'll divide the negative into this section too. Before arrival, the host messaged asking me to buy duty free tobacco for him and bring it to the flat, creating an uncomfortable dynamic immediately. Upon check in, he provided instructions demanding that guests clean the room, wash, dry, and remake all bed linen, or pay an undisclosed cash surcharge of 20 Euros per night. This was never stated on the listing. The detergent used is the cheapest available, with laundry washed in full loads, dried on the common balcony, and placed straight back on beds (when not folded and left for people to do whatever they want with it in a big branded white bag). The living arrangement offers virtually no privacy or hygiene. The host sleeps on the living room couch and collects hundreds of bottles of the same whiskey brand throughout the space. I could not even use the kitchen or make coffee because the coffee machine was covered in mould. While he swore he never used the toilet or shower during my stay, my room was directly opposite and I could clearly hear someone using both during the night. The space lacks sound insulation, with noise and radio playing, noises day and night, alongside someone loud snoring right outside my door. The apartment has a high floor setting with a panoramic view, but that is where any positive aspect ends. Beneath the scenery, the property is severely neglected. One important point: the owner does not talk a good English (or at least seemed to me) so careful how you communicate if not in French, I would also mention that he say he speaks English but if he does in reality, he lack listening skills and that's essential when someone is complaining about your place. While you read, you can look at the pictures too. The spider webs were much more and there was a dead cockroach in front of the toilet in between the wood planks, in between the 5th and 6th plunk.
− Hygiene was unacceptable. The bed sheets were visibly unwashed with brown stains, while the pillows and room smelled foul and rancid. The toilet room had dead insects beside the bin and embedded in the floorboards, spider webs above near the lights (and around), and the bedroom was infested with mosquitoes. I had to buy my own disinfectant spray and wipes to sanitize the toilet before every single use. The Wi Fi was extremely slow initially and failed completely across my phone, tablet, and laptop for the final two days. When I asked to change rooms to resolve the issues, the host refused and claimed the flat was fully booked. In reality, a couple who arrived to check into that room the morning after my late evening check-in, argued over misrepresentation (not sure where from, I heard the whole thing from my room and the lady thought mine was the second room she booked and she opened it with me inside) and then they walked out immediately, leaving what they booked vacant. The other room was free, except for the first and last night, when occupants made loud noise until 9 AM. After a grueling 14 hour journey during Paris transit strikes, the host confronted me at 9pm asking me if it was all good. Then again the day after. He was visibly anxious and aggressive, shouting (not too loud), calling me a liar, and denying any bad smell while simultaneously obsessing over whether I could smell smoke. He twisted a polite message I had sent earlier purely to prevent conflict while alone in a stranger flat. Booking.com support completely abandoned me. I spent over four hours on the phone across two days. Agents read scripts, refused relocation, and told me to negotiate with the host myself, knowing Paris was fully booked for a Céline Dion residency. After four days they closed the case and forced an unwanted 20 Euro app credit onto my account despite my explicit refusal. Avoid this property, and do not expect support from Booking.com when dealing with private homestays.
