+ Our 3 year old son loved staying in a chateau, it really sparked his imagination and he was very excited to be there. It was an authentic and unique experience, felt a bit like stepping back in time which was fine for 2 nights. The room was huge, plenty of space. The owner was very friendly and welcoming. The location is brilliant, we visited chateau chambord and the nearby zoo. It is incredibly peaceful and quiet, no outside noise. The breakfast consists of tea, coffee, juice, bread, eggs on request, jam and local cheeses as well as yoghurt.
− We felt like we were staying in a museum rather than a hotel, and perhaps that is the intention of the owner. We hadn't anticipated that. It certainly felt authentic but not comfortable. We stayed in the double room with adjoining chapel. The bed was very very uncomfortable and we didn't get much sleep because of this. I suppose it is missing some of the comforts amd facilities guests might expect from a hotel - the wardrobe didn't actually have any hangers or space to put clothes as it was full of blankets, cushions and what looked like a fur scarf. The bedding seemed old fashioned because it was in keeping with the rest of the decor. We didn't realise that the room had an adjoining chapel (didn't see it mentioned on the website when booking). There is no key to lock the door when leaving for the day. You can only lock from the inside. We didn't have any issues with security but we also didn't leave valuables inside. The owner has a dog who appeared harmless but did bark alot and run towards us every time we returned. If you are not a dog lover you might be uncomfortable with this. I think it has a lot of potential but must be quite difficult striking a balance maintaining the integrity of the chateau and providing accomodation to guests.

+ The idea of being in an historical place. Owners were kind, breakfast was good and of it’s kind , close to the Loire’s Castle. No wi-fi. Which is good for me.
− Cleaning either in the room and in the garden. Maitenance of this place is difficult but restrooms and garden could be maintaned in better clening conditions.
