- It was hot and airless which was not exactly the business at fault. I didn't see the note about the heating till too late (well after midnight to call the staff on the number indicated (but could have been more prominent). Also didn't spot the Velux that I could have opened till too late. I will know next time. The shower desperately needs a non-slip mat. I have fallen in a bath shower years ago and it's what you hit on the way down. I ended up in A&E. It was hot and airless which was not exactly the business at fault. + The bothy was very clean and it was good to have individual, lockable rooms. It looked as though it had been newly done up. There was a reasonable amount of storage, although the space in the room was quite tight. The bunks were comfortable, with individual lights and sockets. The staff were friendly and responded quickly to queries, and the location was great for walking. There is space to eat or sit in the kitchen. There is also a good little shop beside the bothy, with a good range of basic supplies and quite late hours.
− The kitchen facilities were very limited - a kettle, a microwave which had several buttons which didn't work, and a very small drinks cooler. There was no hob, fridge or food prep equipment such as sharp knives. This is fine for reheating a ready meal or if you are planning to eat in the hotel next door, but we would have brought different food if we had known this at the time of booking. We were the only people using the bothy at the time we were there, but if it had been busier, space for keeping items cool and the limited number of plates, bowls etc. would have been an issue. We had also hoped from the description of the bothy as having a garden, picnic table and outdoor furniture that we could eat outside, given the beautiful weather during our stay; however, the hotel garden was round the other side of the hotel via the main street, with limited seating and no picnic table. The yard between the bothy and the hotel has no seating and a fair bit of the space is taken up by the hotel bins. There is also a 'no-alcohol' policy in the bothy, although the hotel itself has outdoor seating on the street and does obviously serve drinks. We enjoyed our stay overall, but did feel that it would have been useful to have had this information as we booked it.
