+ A good location for a stopover on the road from the north west to the east. Also well situated for walking the gorge of the Rio Lobos. Breakfast was a continental buffet, a toaster provided. Dinner was simple but wholesome.
− No hairdryer

+ Except for my major complaint below, this is a nice hotel. My Floor 3 room (#13) was comfortable and adequate. It lacked a refrigerator but the owner stored my perishables for me. It's a good value at 35€ (single, early May, very basic breakfast included). There is an elevator. Although the hotel says "No parking available", this is misleading as there is plenty of free street parking, even immediately adjacent. The bar and restaurant serves food and drink. La Tablada is only 2.5 km from access to the Santander-Valencia rail trail and is thus an excellent choice for hikers and bicyclists. I would not call this place charming or cozy, but there's nothing to complain about, except...
− The hotel's claim of fast wifi is very misleading. On the Floor 3, there was no usable wi-fi, even in the public lounge. When I complained about this, the owner was unapologetic and suggested I sit in the bar with my computer (it's noisy and without lounge seating, not to mention 3 floors below my room). I ended up sitting in the Floor 2 lounge and switching constantly between 3 unreliable wi-fi networks to get even a little work done. Around midnight, the owner found me and tried to blame the problems on what he said was the town's poor internet service. Even if true, which would be an entirely separate problem, this is no excuse at all because connecting reliably to a wi-fi network has nothing to do with whether that network has a functioning connection to the internet. If you need to use wi-fi, Hostel La Tablada is NOT for you.
