+ If you are looking for a family-run hotel in a historic center where you walk into the green inner courtyard to a warm greeting and room on a cold day, you will be happy here. Our room, one of their larger ones, was spacious and appointed with vintage furniture. The little terrace adds to the space and light. Guests of various sizes are accommodated with mirrors and storage places at different levels. The fresh, delicious breakfast was served in a lower level dining room. The entire hotel is filled with art and objects from another time making it feel a little like a musem -- one that also provides excellent wifi. + This hotel is family owned and operated. The Fioritis have owned the establishment for nearly two decades with two generations participating in the day to day operations. They treat you like family and welcome you like it is the first time each time you enter the lobby. If you have not been to Matelica, it moves at a different pace than the typical tourist city or commune. We were in the commune to research suitable locations for a real estate purchase. The Fioritis were very accommodating especially Isabella and she thoughtfully answered every question we posed. It is a warm inviting atmosphere. English is spoken for those who are not Italian speakers which we are not. The room while sparse, served its purpose and we slept soundly each night we were there. The bathroom is small but was clean and functioned as expected. Momma Fioriti is the baker of the family and baked numerous cakes available any the small continental breakfast each morning along with your morning coffee or juice. + simple clean room. nice staff on check in and breakfast.
− strange people across the hallway with their door open and a overwhelming smell of cigarettes. being a solo traveller its not nice people seeing you leaving and returning.
