+ I was looking for a nice adult-only venue where I could unwind from daily life, and Impossible Motel didn't disappoint. In fact, due to a cancellation, I was offered an upgrade on the day I checked in - with a hot tub! It's a shame I only spent one night, but then I would have hardly left my room! Huge poster-bed! Love the style of the whole place - dark corridors offering an intriguingly mysterious tone! Staff were nice, let me leave my luggage at reception before I checked in (props and apologies to whoever dragged my suitcase upstairs!) I was looking for a nice adult-only venue where I could unwind from daily life, and Impossible Motel didn't disappoin...
- There was no lift, I had to drag my heavy suitcase down two flights of stairs. Pack light! Don't expect breakfast, their restaurant opens at 11 where they do brunch. The TV didn't receive signal so it was unusable. Hopefully it was a one-off and won't be an inconvenience for a guest staying longer than I did. I didn't take advantage of the coupon the receptionist offered when I checked in, but this was due to scheduling conflicts. The mirror above the bed was slightly dirty, but it could have been a stylised one. There was no lift, I had to drag my heavy suitcase down two flights of stairs. Pack light! Don't expect breakfast, ...

+ The location was great! We stayed in the Sir John Terry room with a hot tub and it was beautiful. Everything we needed was on our doorstep and the staff were so lovely (make sure you say hello to the fish in reception) The staff texted us to ask if we wanted housekeeping each day which was a nice touch but you could also use the usual “please make up our room” door hanger.
− I wouldn’t say there was anything we didn’t like honestly. The location is very central and urban so there is noise from the street and due to the bar downstairs but that’s city life and didn’t really bother us. The building is old and therefore the hotel is limited how they could alter the rooms, you can hear the occasional noise from a room next door but nothing that was unreasonable. The hotel provided earplugs anyway which we used but weren’t really necessary.

+ The Impossible Motel is a superb place to stay for those who like something a little quirky. The location is perfect for exploring all that York has to offer and despite it being very central you don’t get a lot of noise. We stayed in the Red Room which was very kitsch which we loved and the bath is amazing in this room. The staff are very friendly, professional, attentive and knowledgeable. We loved our stay and will definitely be back to sample another room.
