+ Like many of the reviewers, we stayed here for one night to attend a concert in the Arena. There are not many hotels and apartments in the newly developing area around the Arena. It looked complicated to travel to the location by public transport although we are very familiar with the city of Bordeaux and always stay closer to the city centre. This accommodation is an easy and safe ten minute stroll to the Arena. Our overall impression was that the apartment is OK for a one night stay, and very reasonably priced. We agree with most of the comments made by other guests, where their small concerns should be related to the price and location of their stay. The owner was charming when he phoned to give us the door code number - he speaks good English too. If I were he, I would spend half a day at the property doing little improvements to promote the review rating to an 8/9 level. Specifically, install a couple of hooks on a wall for coats and clothing (there is nowhere to put these), install the smoke alarm properly, add a bottle opener to the kitchen utensils, replace the door knob on the bathroom door, leave a note that the bathroom light switch hides behind the sliding door, have a bedside lamp to soften the atmosphere from the single bare centre lamp, and write an instruction for the WiFi and TV operation. All that would cost very little, improve the rating and I guess he could easily increase the night's price by €10 and have even happier customers. I have another comment about parking the car - see below Like many of the reviewers, we stayed here for one night to attend a concert in the Arena. There are not many hotels...
- This is not a negative comment - Booking.com limits the amount of text in each field ! A final issue about parking. The small town of Floirac is very congested around 16.00 and it was initially difficult to park the car - the solution was however simple. Behind the Mairie there's a large car park which is free for a maximum of 90 minutes. Even better, behind the apartment there is a brand new renovated car park (which you can actually see from the the apartment window). That offers also a maximum 90 minute free stay, with count-down meters at each space that start to run as soon as a car arrives at the space. The car park had only been open for 10 days and there were no instructions so I had to ask another motorist. He told me, and I later confirmed by a web search. that the meters are linked to the police station, and any car exceeding the 90 minutes stay would get a fine. However that only operates up to 19.00 so it's a good place to park overnight, and in the morning the clocks start up again at 08.30 so you have until 10.00 to leave. + The fake candle
− The first sign that this was a bad choice came with the request for a €150 deposit on the day of check-in. It was mentioned in the description, so it’s my fault for not paying attention—but still, it’s quite unusual for Booking.com. After paying, I went to the place, and as soon as I entered, the smell of burnt plastic filled the air. The neighbourhood was burning something right outside, in the garden just below the bedroom window, which was open. The apartment itself is much smaller than it looks in the photos and feels almost suffocating. The bathroom door is just a movable wooden panel that barely separates the bed from the bathroom. After regretting my choice, I decided to take a shower to forget my life decisions—but there was no hairdryer. When I asked the owner, he simply said it had been stolen, without offering any solution. After making sure the window was properly closed, I left the apartment. When I came back later, the smell of sewage from the toilet had filled the entire studio. I slept with the window open, hoping the neighbours wouldn’t burn anything else in the morning. The night was awful; you can hear everything from the corridor. I rented this place for two nights because I was attending a concert at the Arkea Arena, which is fairly close. But it wasn’t worth it—Bordeaux is small and well connected, so there’s really no reason to stay in Floirac for a concert. The first night I stayed in a much better apartment near the station for the same price. Please, be smart—don’t pick this one.

+ Inexpensive, small and suitable for an overnight stay. The refrigerator worked and the bathroom was very good. (newer than the other eqipment)
− No chair with backrest, only stools.
