- When we arrived at check in it was obvious things were a little chaotic with the staff. The young man on the desk was trying to handle a volatile conversation on the phone and ignored us for quite some time, trying to placate the person on the other line. Apparently the manager had been missing for a week and the young staff handling everything seemed beyond their depth. In the evening the bar staff had no idea about even basic drinks such as what a cider was. At dinner we were waiting so long for our meal that my husband asked a young guy how likely we are to get our meal, and was told that the chef had walked out, so it was unlikely. We canceled our order and quickly went out to find a restaurant still open at 9pm. I felt sorry for the team, trying to handle what seemed an incredibly chaotic situation, similar to an episode of Faulty Towers. They were all nice young people, some of them students, but things were not running smoothly at all, I don’t know what was going on. Thankfully we had a nice clean, comfortable room and loved the hotel. We weren’t sure what to expect at breakfast but it was all okay, and we enjoyed a good breakfast in the morning. + We liked the character building
− Like most hotels, the rooms are too warm. Radiator blasting out. It’s not necessary and must be costing you a fortune. Weather is very mild. Save yourself loads of money and turn them down. Energy costs for you must be huge.

Deluxe Suite Deluxe Suite 1 week ago family with young children
+ Great location near Blenheim estate castle. We love the Bear Hotel and we keep staying there once or twice a year.
− We booked a deluxe suite. We got a deluxe room. We had to complain to the reception desk. They solved it by refunding the difference between a deluxe room and a deluxe suite. Not too bad eventually but not as comfortable as what we booked. On top of that, the four-poster bed in our room is not as wide as it could be given the size of the room.
