+ Everywhere in the property was very clean. The host responded promptly to questions and was very helpful. He sent me guidance on how to access the property the day before I arrived, not a few hours before like some other private hosts, and this made a big difference. He also left a crate of free water bottles in the hall for guests to take, which I appreciated. Duddingston is a quiet area and this helped me sleep. When I booked, I knew it was a distance outside Edinburgh city centre. The guest house is close to Brunstane train station, which is one stop away from Edinburgh Waverley: trains are every 30 mins during daytime and every hour in the evening. I should probably have looked at buses as big double-deckers seem to go down Duddingston Crescent very regularly. I couldn't see anywhere in the area to get food but there are two convenience stores at the end of Magdalene Place and the guesthouse has a microwave for guests to use, so this was fine. + It was a really good cheap place to stay in an expensive city. Clean, comfortable and very convenient. I liked that it had a fridge for guest use.
