+ Due to unforeseen circumstances we had to make this booking the night before. Staff were friendly and helpful. We opted for breakfast at the hotel and it was freshly cooked to a high standard and served promptly. This hotel is very much traditional in nature so don't expect modern facilities, power showers etc! Some reviews have been overly critical of the facilities for a hotel which was built long before many of the purpose built hotel chains were around, so rooms may be smaller because they've had to fit an en-suite into each. The price reflects this. Rooms, bedding were clean.
− Nothing really, although there is no hotel site parking available for this seafront property. There is a car park opposite and like most of the island there is little free parking available anywhere. Parking from 6pm to 8am is £2 so not bad, pricier in the day.

+ Location perfect for local transport connections, both for arriving and travelling around the island. Pleasant to stroll along the waterfront and watch the sunset, plus easy access to the beach. Plenty of eating out options close by, as well as supermarkets. We had a top floor room with a lovely view across the Solent. James our host was very helpful and friendly. We only stayed two nights but our room was even so tidied and cleaned after our first night with fresh towels provided. It was during a very hot spell and the room was very warm but there was a good sized opening window (upper half - so quite safe!) for a fresh flow of air overnight. It's an old building with smallish rooms and compact private bathrooms and no lift but that was all as expected. It had everything we wanted, with hair dryer, iron & board available if needed. Good information booklet in the room.
− The plumbing / water supply was disappointing. The shower cubicle was good and very clean but don't expect a quick invigorating shower - plenty of time needed to wash the soap off! Water pressure may be better on lower floors ....
