- Saturday 2 hours before check-in, I received a Text message at 12:45 asking me to call the host. I called and was told there was an incident, and we have 2 choices. 1. A refund in the next 2 hours. 2.A refund by 12 am that night. I chose option 2 I was halfway there at the time. I asked if he knew of any other accommodation. No help what so ever. I was left stranded, having to find accommodation at short notice. After paying over the odds and an hour's drive from the venue. It should have been 20 minutes. Monday checked account, no refund. I texted the host, and they processed the refund. No apology or compensation. It could happen to you and there's nothing you can do about it. + Paid £173 for 4 people for 1 night on Saturday 11th July, booked for eddfest. Booked the rooms last year in September 2025. I can't actually tell you anything about the property, as the host rang me at 7am on the morning of my stay to.tell me that they had a maintenance emergency, and as I had not taken them up on the offer of free cancellation they had emailed me about 3 days before (with no mention of a maintenance emergency) they couldn't fulfill my booking because of it. Completely screwed my itinerary for Knebworth and cost me money despite the refund- as I lost money as I was unable to cancel train tickets, and had to pay for parking at Knebworth (6 hours on the A1 did not improve my mood) as I was unable to find accommodation at such late notice. Not for the price I paid anyway. Imagine my surprise when within 22 minutes of the host contacting me to secure cancellation, the exact same property came up in my search for £682.
− Booking cancelled on the day of travel, having booked it a full 10 months beforehand. Completely screwed up my travel plans resulting in a very, very long car journey that I didn't need to make, plus out of pocket by over 100 quid for parking, extra petrol (6 hours sitting in a car on a steaming hot day is not my idea of fun) plus train tickets i couldn't use and couldn't get a refund for. AVOID.
