+ Great location on market square. Lovely old, quaint building. Our very spacious room had beams. Cafe downstairs. Later check in was available. Late check out at 11am is good.
− The phone number given to access the room after 5pm came up as invalid. Thankfully the other one worked. Parking is available close by but isn't guaranteed when it's busy.

+ Price for location. Cozy room, comfy bed, quiet. Hot water takes a while to come, but is really hot. Slept really well, definitely would return. I was out during café hours, so can’t comment on the food.
− The tele remote didn’t work and they didn’t resolve that when I let them know. They didn’t replenish coffee supplies or water the second day. Bedside three legged table is tippy.

+ The room was very clean and the beds comfortable and the room was warm and cosy. It's not a standard hotel in that there's no check in desk. You need to phone if you're arriving after 5, so make sure you have a mobile phone and keep your mobile charged or I'm really not sure how you'd get in. Once you're checked in there's a key fob to come and go as you please. I liked the great character of the property (it's country cosy so don't expect everything to be immaculate). Also the water pressure was great. I've read about noise issues at this hotel but we didn't hear anything other than the occasional guest passing our door in the corridor. It's located above a little cafe where we had breakfast on one of the mornings we were there. There's a nearby Co-op and you're a short 10 minute walk from Blenheim Palace. So in summary, great location, clean, comfy beds, great showers.
− We had a bit of an issue when we arrived in that we thought the TV didn't work. (Travelling with a child this would have been a nightmare). Neither I nor the caretaker on duty could get it to work. She even changed the batteries on the remote. A couple of hours later my daughter accidentally sat on the remote and the TV turned on randomly. (The caretaker checked in on us again at this point which was very nice of her and saw that it was now working!) We later couldn't get the remote to turn it off - though all other functions worked on the remote - so we ended up just using the plug point switch to turn the TV on and off while we were there. Which was fine for us. We explained this to the staff in the cafe when we checked out so the hotel owners would know. There's some tired aspects to the room, such as slightly weather worn window frames, due to dampness in the windows, but I appreciate that they are specialty windows (probably original) in a historic home and this is part of the charm. And they certainly didn't let in any cold air. Some of the wooden trim in the bathroom was also a bit rotten in corners, but the bathroom was decorated in a charming English style. And most importantly it was very clean. The only genuine problem I had during my delightful and comfortable stay at this hotel was that the glaring LED lights in the hallway shone all night brightly through the gap under my bedroom door. The gap is large enough that the brightness shone under my bed onto the opposite wall, creating an also bright reflection of the cold LED/fluorescent white light. So no matter which way I turned I could see it. My daughter and I both bought some sleep masks, so it was okay in the end, but maybe supplying a draught excluder would help block the light? Thank you so much for the stay. You have a lovely, comfortable hotel in a lovely location.
