+ Staff were friendly and welcoming.. My room was spotlessly clean, with lovely muted, cosy--textured soft furnishings, attractive fittings and a lovely little en-suite shower room with a good-sized shower and vintage-styled fittings. The bed was large and very comfortable. A complimentary glass of locally-produced whisky with home-made shortbread was a nice touch, and it was good to have a pod-style coffee machine in the room. The Boar's Head is located in a historic village, and alrhough there is a bar and an acclaimed restaurant in the hotel, I had a very peaceful night's sleep. Breakfast was very tasty, with a good range of options including home-made ingredients. Free on-street parking is available in front of the hotel. Staff were friendly and welcoming.. - The room was very pretty and cosy, and ideal for me as a solo guest, offering lots of character.and comfort. Being a historic building though, the room wasn't large, and there wasn't a lot of space to manoeuvre around the bed, which might make it a little awkward for couples staying. Four clothes hangers were available on an attractive open rack hung by the bed - ample for my one-night stay, but maybe extra would be made available for couples, or for longer stays. + The room was superb and the little "extras" were appreciated. Great shower. All the staff were friendly, efficient and delightful. The lunchtime set menu appeared to be popular and good value.
− Though our room had a window that opened it was very "stuffy" during the night. A fan would have been welcome in the room. We felt that the Evening menu was relatively overpriced for the small servings and were underwhelming. However, our feedback on the evening meal was dealt with good grace.

+ David the hotel owner was exceptional. When I was struggling at Ladybank station he came and picked me up. The decor was not flashy but meshed well giving a good look. The restaurant easily deserved the 2 AA rosettes for dinner but the breakfast was not quite on parity. Overall stay was excellent.
− Lack of taxis in the village on Sunday.
