The Crown & Thistle, Abingdon, Oxfordshire - Acorn Pubs
About this property
The Crown & Thistle, a Grade II listed coaching inn in the centre of Abingdon, dates back to 1605. Set around a cobbled courtyard with 200-year-old wisteria, it features a restaurant, bar, elegant function rooms, and 18 boutique en-suite bedrooms combining historic charm with modern luxury.
Each air-conditioned room offers complimentary toiletries, flat-screen TV, tea and coffee facilities, unlimited Wi-Fi, and some feature roll-top baths. Free on-site parking and Wi-Fi are available. Guests can enjoy a full English breakfast daily.
Open from 8am, the restaurant serves a seasonal, Mediterranean-inspired menu alongside British classics, with Neapolitan pizzas from a wood-fired oven, dishes from a Josper grill, tempting desserts, and a children’s menu. Drinks include Rainforest Alliance certified coffee and locally brewed beer.
Guests can dine indoors or alfresco in the courtyard. Abingdon offers Thames-side walks and is just 15–20 minutes’ drive from Oxford and Didcot, 15 miles from Blenheim Palace, and within easy reach of the Cotswolds
