+ Location, food in bar was good. After service dealing with our concerns from the property was excellent including a generous discount .
− Inaccessible from railway station without prior notice . A taxi is the only way if you come by train . A very steep staircase in the hill behind the hotel was the only way to the hotel on foot not suitable with a suitcase of any size . Nowhere to put suitcase had to leave it on the floor of the room Broken toilet seat.

+ Location and very dog friendly
− Most of the staff were lovely but the exception was one of the staff at the counter on our arrival. Indifferent to us. One man who checked us in stood drinking a glass of water while he tapped us in on the computer! The lady who served breakfast was very friendly and welcoming. Very helpful

+ The pub and food were exceptional. Room was cozy and comfortable. The location was really good for us because we were walking the John Muir way and the hotel is right on the path.
