+ Lovely good sized cottage, it was very quiet when we were there as we were the only ones staying in the whole row. Beautiful views from the windows as the living area is upstairs. Situated in a good location for the lake District not far from Kendal. The kitchen is well equipped . Living area is very comfortable with a large TV. We stayed at No2. - The only thing we didn't like was the lack of communication with the owners. There was no personal touch. We don't expect welcome packs which is just as well because we didn't get a note or a card or anything to say welcome and enjoy your holiday. There was no guest book. It just felt so cold with no personal touch. There were a lot of things we couldn't understand and had to work out ourselves. For instance when we arrived the freezer was turned off and we couldn't find how to switch it back on. We contacted Sykes Cottages who were very helpful and even sent someone out to sort it. We did have a day when we woke up with no water whatsoever and again Sykes Cottages were very helpful. It wasn't the fault of the cottage but a burst water main up the road. We had to wait until almost 3pm before we could use the toilet , run water or have a shower which meant a wasted day stuck indoors. But even this we still never heard from the owners asking if we were ok ! The only thing we didn't like was the lack of communication with the owners. There was no personal touch. We don't ex...

+ A fabulous quirky upside down property with really great facilities. Loved the map wall, all the beautiful wood featured throughout the property & ability to park very close. The thoughtful little welcome box, cleaning supplies box (dishwasher tablets, bin bags, washing up sponge & cleaning cloth an excellent idea we have never come across before ) & mini toiletries bag were lovely touches & showed the care put into making our stay as welcoming & pleasant as possible- all much appreciated. The surroundings were lovely, beautiful flowers by the hedges & lots of birds - next time I'll bring my binoculars as we look forward to returning.
− Fabulous big bed but after a long day & our old bones would have welcomed a topper or something to make it a little softer - purely personal choice & in no way detracted from our stay.
